Homeowner’s policies are not always guaranteed to cover every item in a claim. There are often exceptions that need to be added as special items.
The property coverage on your home policy generally considers basic furniture, clothing, appliances, etc. Fire, wind, hail, tornado, and a hurricane may already be included and built into the policy while other coverage might require a special endorsement or rider.
Exclusions
If there is a special item, you would like to have covered then there may be an option to include it. Additional optional coverage is available for musical instruments, jewelry, laptop, antiques, golf clubs, fine art, and other specialty property. Simply speak with your agent and discuss specifically the items, claims, or events that you want to be sure are covered.
We also urge you to read your policy thoroughly, particularly the sections entitled “exclusions” in order to avoid any misunderstanding regarding the scope of the insurance policy program.
